Particular to Universal? Progression or Betrayal? Unpacking Rav Kook’s Fourfold Song ‘Shir HaMiruba’

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

This inspiring text transports us from the song of Self, to Nation, to Humanity, to Created Universe. Who are we in our world? Rooted in familiar relationships and rituals that define our self and truths, we also expand to engage in human relationships and the universe beyond our backyard. Yet moving from particular to universal can be at once an endless and wondrous revelation, and a betrayal of our roots. We will analyze Rav Kook’s poem and relevant rabbinic, kabalistic and contemporary texts and issues.
